Luke Allen is the front man and songwriter for Happy Talk Band, a roots rock quartet who are currently in the studio working on their fifth record.

His son, pianist Arlo Allen is a sixth grader at Homer Plessy School in Treme and a music student of Dr. Jimbo Walsh at Loyola University. He was a featured performer in 2023 WWOZ Piano Night!

This will be there second show as a trio with Aurora Nealand.

An established bandleader, composer, performer and improviser, Aurora Nealand has become a prominent force in the New Orleans music scene since she first arrived in 2004. She is most recognized for her performance on saxophones, clarinet and vocals and has been at the forefront of the revival of New Orleans Traditional Jazz amongst the younger generation of the city’s musicians.

Happy Talk Band is a boot-gazer, Americana group from New Orleans. They have released four full-length albums, beginning in 2004. Their current line-up is songwriter and vocalist, Luke Allen, on rhythm guitar, Alex McMurray on lead guitar, Steve Calandra on bass, and Jeff Massey on drums.

Every ticket includes free black eyed peas and cabbage provided by Milkfish.
